Episode 14: Angel One
Captain's log, Stardate 41636.9 (Year 2364)
Federation freighter Odin was disabled by an asteroid collision and revealed no life signs. Three escape pods were missing suggesting the possibility of survivors. The Enterprise travels to Angel I, the closest habitable planet near the Odin.
Picard reminds the crew that they should maintain excellent diplomatic relations with the Planet. Data shares that the Planet is ruled by 6 elected mistresses and a leader known as "the elected one". The Federation has not been in contact with the planet in 62 years. Counselor Troi seems intrigued by the thought of a world dominated by women, so Picard suggests Troi take the audio signal from Angel I.
While the away team is on Angel I, Picard explains to Worf that they need to report to a neutral zone after completing their mission. Romulan battleships have been detected near a Federation border post. Picard is interrupted by a hit from Wesley's snowball and he scolds him. Picard notices a smell, which Worf finds stimulating, reminding him of home.
Wesley and his friend have been infected by a respiratory ailment, causing Picard much stress as he does not want to deal with an infected crew. However, Picard soon gets infected and Dr. Crusher advises him to discontinue commanding the ship. Picard is more concerned about his commitments than getting rest. Reluctantly, he takes the order from Dr. Crusher to go to his cabin and he gives over command to Geordi for the first time.
Dr. Crusher brings Picard medication while he is resting in bed. She detects cologne on him and links the scent to the respiratory virus affecting one-third of the ship. She is able to devise an inoculant and they are able to bring the away team back on board. Captain Picard returns to the bridge, although hoarse. Too difficult to talk, Picard nods to Riker to command, "engage" and they take off to the neutral zone.

What did I learn about Picard's leadership?
- Upon arrival at Angel I, Picard reminds the crew to maintain excellent diplomatic relations. Any first meeting could be potential for a strong relationship, addition of a new ally or new member of the Federation. Picard is always thinking of making a good first impression to project possibility of future partnership.
- When Picard gets struck by the respiratory virus, he is not willing to give up his responsibilities easily. He is concerned about the away team and the next voyage they need to make, which could require much strength. It is only when his doctor orders him to rest that he gives up his responsibilities for the sake of getting better.
- While Picard is off duty and getting rest, he must delegate his responsibilities. He assigns La Forge to take control for the first time, instilling trust in his inexperienced Lieutenant.
